Thursday-Saturday, 4-6 September 2008

The end of this week and the weekend were rather uneventful. Classes remain decently easy and the campus once again experienced a mass exodus as everyone went home for the weekend. Kendal and I cooked chicken, rice, and beans for dinner on Thursday and though we burned the chicken a little, the dinner was rather good.

On Friday we went back to Al Mamzar Park to go the beach. It was much less crowded this time since it is Friday during Ramadan. Not only is this a very religious day, I doubt many people would enjoy sitting outside in the hot sun on the beach all day while they cannot eat or drink. So, the beach was very empty, and we enjoyed it. Afterwards, Danny, Jeremy, and Kendal went to Irish Village for dinner, but I headed back to campus because Irish is pretty expensive for decent food. Plus, I really wanted to cook dinner that night.

Today I didn't do much of anything. With the campus empty and me not having a car, there was really nothing to do. Paying for taxis, having to call them, and then wait for them gets old really fast. I'd like to go into the city more and explore, but the lack of transportation mixed with the heat makes this impossible. Instead, I did nothing until around 4:30 when I finally got up and was somewhat active. Hopefully, things will start happening on campus once Ramadan is over. Anyway, the school week starts tomorrow, and I need to get some sleep.
