Friday and Saturday, 22-23 August 2008

I was too tired to write yesterday. I have been doing so much lately, I think it is starting to get to me. Yesterday, Danny, Kendal, and I went to the Sharjah Grand Hotel and bought day passes in order to use their beach and pool for the day. Since it was a hotel, we were allowed to where western clothing and swimsuits. The beach was ,and the water was really nice, except it was probably close to 100 degrees. Still, it was colder than the outside air. The water in the pool was cooled and was probably around 80-85 degrees. The pool also had a slide, which was a lot of fun.

We spent most of the day lying on the beach and going in the Gulf and the pool. We also rented jet skis and went out into the Gulf. I rented my own and had a blast with it. I was a little light for it though and kept getting bounced around a lot. The water was choppy enough to get a little air with the jet ski. We also got lunch at La Bamba resturant at the hotel, which had surprisingly good food. When they brought us bread, however, it was obvious the basket had been sitting out awhile since the butter in the little butter packets was completely liquid.

When we got back, I basically ate dinner, took a shower, and went to bed. I managed to only get sunburned in one spot where I guess I missed. I was expecting to be a lot worse.

Today, Kendal and I found where all our classes would be and then got lunch. Afterwards, I took another nap since I am still rather tired. In a little bit I'm heading to the gym and then going to hopefully meet up with everyone to get dinner. Tomorrow is the first day of classes which should begin a whole new section of my time abroad. Until next time...
